Today Italians are celebrating Liberation Day. On this date in 1946 they were finally free from Nazi occupation and fascist rule. A good thing to remember - even here in the States. It is a National Holiday and celebrations and festivals are happening all over the country. Roma must be insanely crowded today.
Another important event takes place in Venice today: it is the first day visitors will be expected to pay a new fee to enter Venice.
